There are over 100 diverse varieties of coffee, including Bourbon, Typica, and the popular Geisha. However, tracing the roots of all these varieties leads us to just three original species.

These are Arabica, Robusta, and Liberica.

Comparison of Characteristics of the "Three Original Species" that Shape the World's Coffee

1. Arabica (Global Mainstream: 60-70% of Market Share)

Characteristics: Originating in the Ethiopian highlands, its greatest appeal lies in its sophisticated flavor, with an excellent aroma and fruity acidity.
Cultivation: Being delicate, it is susceptible to pests and diseases and requires cultivation in cool, high-altitude regions. Due to advancements in selective breeding, it now accounts for approximately 70% of the coffee distributed worldwide.
Gokujo Kabi-Nashi Coffee: Most of the high-quality coffee we offer is also of the Arabica species.

2. Robusta (For Blends and Espresso: 30-40% of Market Share)

Characteristics: Originating in West Central Africa. While considered to have a less refined flavor than Arabica, it is characterized by a very high caffeine content and a strong body (richness).
Cultivation: It is a "robust" variety that is resistant to pests, diseases, and environmental changes, making it suitable for cultivation in various locations.
Uses: It is added to blended coffee for richness and is essential for creating crema (the foam that floats on top) in espresso.

3. Liberica (Rare Species: Minimally Cultivated)

Characteristics: Also originating in West Central Africa, like Robusta, its quality is inferior to Arabica, and its disease resistance is not as good as Robusta. Currently, it is only minimally cultivated in parts of Asia and Africa.

バターコーヒーを12年飲んでいます。信頼できる知り合いのメーカーのコーヒーを飲んでいましたが、コーヒーの値段の高騰のため、購入をやめました。

体質じゃなかった!カビだった!

私は、これまでコーヒーを飲んだ後で起きる倦怠感と低血糖症状に悩まされていました。
何度もコーヒー断ちもしましたが、大好きなので出されると、つい飲んでしまい、また飲み始めたりを繰返し、最近は薄めにして回数や時間を調整しながらにしていました。過去には膵臓の精密検診もしましたが原因分からずで、私はコーヒーの合わない特別な体質なんだと諦めていました。ところが、カビ無しコーヒーを飲んでみると、低血糖症状出無くなり身体が軽い!ビックリです!今は普通の濃さで美味しいコーヒーを飲める幸せを味わっています♡

柔らかい口当たり

カフェインレスはこれまで意識したことがなかったですが、飲むタイミングで寝られなくなることがあり今回購入してみました。
もっと物足りないかと思いましたが、カフェインが入っていなくてもコクがあり、満足できるお味でした。カフェインレスな分、口当たりがソフトに感じました。
