Why I decided to open a coffee shop.

I'm Kamei, the owner of Gokujo Mold-Free Coffee.

The reason I became a coffee shop owner.

It all started with my parents originally running a coffee shop.

They're still running it, and this year marks their 46th year.

I've been drinking coffee since I was a small child.

So it was always familiar to me.

When I went to the coffee shop, customers often used to say, "You'll take over the shop when you grow up, won't you?"

Honestly, I didn't really think so myself.

When I was looking for a job, it was during an employment ice age, and also due to a chronic illness, I was rejected by over 40 companies in interviews.

Even the temp agency that hired me after I hid my illness found out a year later and I was fired,

I completely lost confidence and there was a period when I was a shut-in for two years.

I was a freeter until my thirties, drifting around, but in the end, I ended up running a coffee shop.

I worked with my parents for a while, but then I decided to become independent and open my own coffee shop.

It's fate, isn't it? (laughs)

Thanks to my encounter with mold-free coffee, I'm now only doing mail-order, and it's been 10 years since I started Gokujo Mold-Free Coffee.

I don't have much of an academic background or impressive achievements,

but I'm proud of myself for running a coffee shop today.

I want to deliver Gokujo Mold-Free Coffee to many customers and make them happy.

That's what I hope for.

I've written about the owner on the official page (with photos).
